This series of standards covers the welding of metallic materials in railway vehicles and their parts. Depending on the conditions of the railway, this series of standards defines the certification and quality characteristics for the welding manufacturer to perform the new construction and repair work. In addition, it provides a fundamental link between the performance characteristics defined during design and demonstrates the required quality with appropriate quality welds and inspection during production. This connection is achieved by defining a welding performance class during design on the basis of stress factors and safety related to railway operation. The quality levels of the defects are assigned to the resource performance classes to provide a certain level of performance requested during design. Based on these, certification levels of these welding performance classes are determined for both the production and the adequacy of the inspection, test and manufacturer's welder personnel. This standard relates to welding of steel and aluminum alloys and their castings.
NOTE The principle of this standard is applicable to other materials of the same basis (Cu, Mg, etc.). This part of the series provides general recommendations and definitions for the source and related components of railway vehicles. It is planned under the contract except for special provisions. This standard applies to all components, sub-components or parts of any welded part using manual, partially mechanized, fully mechanized or automatic welding as defined in EN ISO 4063.
The EN 15085 standard for the railway sector replaces the EN 6700 standard series. EN 15085 The standard series includes general requirements for the welding of railway vehicles and parts and is also a visa for international manufacturers of railway and railway parts manufacturers.
18 August 2007 has been approved by CEN. It is compulsory in companies producing EU railway vehicles and parts.
EN 15085 standard Defines the welding process of railway vehicles and components and the fact that the organizations carrying out the production, repair and revision of railway vehicles and their parts have EN 15085-2 certificate shows that the welded manufacturing meets the requirements specified in international standards.
The EN 15085-2 Standard is classified based on certificate levels.
- CL1: The welding performance class of weld joints is applicable to welded manufacturers of railway vehicles and their welded parts from CP A to CP D. Design or purchase and sale or purchase and assembly allow for all certification levels.
- CL2: The welding performance class of weld joints is applied to weld manufacturers who manufacture welded parts of railway vehicles from CP C2 to Cp D.
- CL3: Applies to welding manufacturers producing welded parts of railway vehicles with weld performance class CP D of weld joints.
- CL4: Covers manufacturers who buy or sell the design of railway vehicles.
In order to export the railway vehicles, their parts and the service related to these vehicles to European countries, the companies working in these fields must be certified.
Certification can be made in the 4 class, depending on the firm's work area, under the supervision of ARMA CONSULTANCY AND TRAINING.
Class 1: New construction, replacement and repair of railway vehicles and components.
Class 2: New construction, replacement and repair of pressure-free containers (without defined test pressure)
Class 3: Source of simple additional elements (toolboxes, etc.)
Class 4: For businesses that do not weld themselves (design, purchase and assembly).
Depending on the certification class, the infrastructure, equipment and personnel requirements expected from the companies may vary. These changes will be notified to the company by TÜRCERT.
In order to export railway vehicles, their parts and services related to these vehicles to European countries, the companies working in these fields must be certified internationally.
