WHAT IS EUREPGAP

Eurepgap is now called Globalgap.

GLOBALGAP (EUREPGAP) is an initiative that 1997 put together and put into practice in order to ensure that the major European supermarkets do not harm the safe human health of the agricultural products they put on their shelves. Today it has become a global standard that is valid all over the world. 70-80% of major retailers and manufacturers in Europe are currently members or registered to GLOBALGAP (EUREPGAP).

GLOBALGAP (EUREPGAP) standard; applies to both individual farmers and producer / farmer groups (eg cooperatives, large exporters, packing houses, etc.); Producer / Farmer groups are also required to fulfill the requirements of the Quality Management System documents and to be capable of managing the connections between producers.

Integrated Farm Assurance system for Control Points and Compliance Criteria.

Risks and troubles in the Food Sector constitute the most important element to be eliminated in the globalizing world trade. GLOBAL GAP (the name of Eurepgap has been replaced by the name Globalgap) is an appropriate practice for global markets by transforming the rapidly growing consumer needs of the world countries into agricultural production and is an important reference standard for Good Agricultural Practices. GLOBAL GAP is a private organization that sets voluntary standards for the certification of agricultural products grown in the world. The purpose of this organization is to develop the ability to apply different products to the whole of global agriculture and to establish a reference standard for Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). GLOBAL GAP is a farm pre-exit, ie a stop-and-take standard, which includes the certification of farm products produced with farm practices, the certified product process from agricultural inputs such as seeds, seedlings and all agricultural activities. GLOBAL GAP is a business label and therefore consumers cannot see it directly. GLOBAL GAP Certification services are provided in more than one hundred countries. All food producers from “Farm to Table” worldwide can apply for GLOBAL GAP certification and can be certified. In GLOBAL GAP Certification, unannounced audits, additional audits and annual audits are carried out to producers. GLOBAL GAP consists of a number of documents. The GLOBAL GAP General Regulations, GLOBAL GAP Compliance Criteria, Control Points and Checklists will cover these documents. The GLOBAL GAP standard had to be found in order to encourage the development of regionally harmonized management systems, where different Farm assurance systems previously had practices such as GLOBAL GAP, and thus prevent these problems for farmers who had to undergo multiple audits. The GLOBAL GAP standard that has successfully completed the current national or regional farm assurance plan benchmarking process is considered equivalent to these practices.

The GLOBAL GAP Standard makes continuous improvements to take into account technological and market developments and is revised every three years.
