Drilling machine is a work machine that cuts the hole down to the bottom of the soil. A drilling machine is used in various drilling operations. Simple drilling machines are mounted on a sled or truck. In the case of large drilling systems, the functions carried out by the individual machines are combined in the drilling machines and provided by one machine. Drilling machines are generally used for surveying or mining and water resources. Drilling machines are divided into various groups, such as rotari drilling machines, impact drilling machines or combined drilling machines, according to the drilling method with their main functions. In addition to this, drilling machines are divided into groups such as skid drilling machines, special purpose drilling machines and superimposed drilling machines according to their installation situations.
Drilling works are generally carried out in order to take samples from soil or rock, to measure ground water levels, to conduct pressure water tests, to perform leakage tests or to perform standard penetration tests, or to measure well deviations. Precautions should be taken in order for the drilling machines to work without revealing safe hazards and damages, and periodic inspections should be made when the time comes.
The minimum requirements for the health and safety of work machines and equipment used in workplaces are included in the Regulation on Health and Safety in the Use of Work Equipment. According to the regulations, the drilling machines should be inspected and inspected at least once a year on a regular basis.
