Platform Inspection

Features of Platforms

Accidents from work equipment can lead to material and moral damage. Occupational safety has recently become an important issue in our country. It has become a necessity to make the work environments more reliable and the importance of periodic controls of the work equipment has increased. It has been published in the Official Gazette dated 6331 and numbered 25.04.2013 and published in the Official Gazette numbered 28628. Regulation Şartlar sets out the minimum requirements for health and safety related to the use of work equipment in enterprises.

Turcert Inspection provides services for the elimination of the elements that may threaten the health and safety of workers, elimination and the prevention of these unwanted results. These periodic control and inspection services are carried out within the scope of lifting and conveying machines such as platform lifting platform, suspended access equipment, hoists, mobile work platform; TS EN 1808 + A1, TS EN 1495 + A2, TS EN 12159, TS EN 280 + A2 standards are made in accordance with the criteria specified. Control reports are prepared in accordance with the relevant legislation by being controlled within the scope of National and International standards.

Lifting platforms are vehicles from the group of lifting and conveying equipment which are produced in accordance with the requirements of the work and ensure that the works are carried out safely and under favorable economic conditions and operate under heavy load in accordance with their purpose. With this feature, it is necessary to establish the most suitable platform in a way to ensure and maintain safe working conditions where needed. The dimensions of the platform to be selected and the features such as the excess heavy load it carries vary depending on what purpose it will be used. But the main thing is that it has a user-friendly ease of use.

Generally speaking, there are many types of hydraulic and scissor lift platforms. For example, single scissor platform, multi scissor platform, tandem scissor platform, disabled platform, vehicle lifting platform, scissor loading platform, U type low platform, low platform, motorcycle platform, electric motorcycle platform, mobile platform and the like. In addition to hydraulic scissor lifts, hanging access platform, column working platform, mobile work platform or mechanical telescopic platforms are also used. However, no matter which type is used, the platforms should be inspected and inspected in certain periods in order to protect the employees and ensure their safety and to eliminate the responsibilities of the employer in possible accidents.

Control and Inspection Principles of Platforms

In the Regulation on Health and Safety Conditions in the Use of Work Equipment issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security on the basis of the Law on Occupational Health and Safety, employers' obligations are explained under the heading of general obligations. On this basis, it is the main duty and responsibility of employers to take the necessary precautions to ensure that the machinery and equipment to be used in the workplace are suitable for the work to be performed and that they do not pose a danger to employees in terms of health and safety. In this respect, in the selection of lifting platforms to be used in the workplace, it is obligatory to consider the special working conditions in the workplace and dangerous situations in terms of health and safety. The main thing is that when using lifting platforms, they do not present a hazard to employees.

Employers may not have provided complete security when taking all necessary measures. According to the regulation, the health and safety of the workers should be fully controlled by the employers in these situations, and at least the employers must strive to minimize the effects of the possible hazards.

The Regulation on Health and Safety in the Use of Work Equipment also describes the types of machines, control periods, criteria to be considered during periodic checks and what the relevant standards are. According to the regulations herein, lifting platforms must be inspected and inspected at least once a year unless another time is specified in the relevant standards.

The standards considered during the inspection of lifting platforms are:

  • TS EN 280 + A2 Mobile work platforms that can be upgraded - Design calculations - Balance criteria - Construction - Safety - Inspection and tests
  • TS EN 1495 + A2 Platforms - Columnar work platforms
  • Steel wire ropes - Safety - Section 12385: Operation and maintenance information
  • TS EN 13157 + A1 Cranes - Safety - Manually operated lifting gear
  • TS EN 818-6 + A1 Short link chain - For lifting purposes - Safety - Section 6: Chain slings - Technical specification for use and maintenance information to be supplied by the manufacturer

Our company TÜRCERT Technical Control and Certification Inc., a competent manager and employee staff and has a strong infrastructure. It provides quality, reliable and fast inspection services of lifting platforms of any size and capacity.

Platform Periodic Control and Inspection

A lifting and transmission group vehicles operating under heavy load are also platforms. Load lifting platforms are machines that are used in factories for material transport on an assembly line and are designed for heavy working conditions. Generally, their bodies are steel construction. Platforms have hydraulic lifting mechanisms to increase the load on them to a certain level. In all of the platforms produced in various models, there are security foundations to protect both the vehicle itself and the elements that operate it in order to avoid any accidents. Nevertheless, lifting platforms are used for heavy work and there is always a risk of danger. Therefore, platforms should be kept under control in terms of employee health and property safety.

There are many types of load lifting platforms. For example, vehicle lifting platform, scissor loading platform, single scissor platform, multi scissor platform, low platform, mobile platform and so on. However, no matter which type is used, the enterprises that use the platform in their activities in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Law have the responsibility to control them at certain intervals. In case of an accident, it is absolutely necessary to check whether the platform is regularly checked. Defects identified and remedied during these checks are preventive in order to avoid any future hazards.

Inspection and test organizations are also examining whether the inspection reports made before the platform inspections are carried out and if any problems have been solved beforehand.

Our company conducts periodic inspections and inspections of platforms within the scope of periodic controls of lifting and conveying machines in compliance with the legal regulations in force and standards published by national and international organizations. A few standards considered in these studies are:

  • TS EN 280 + A2 Mobile work platforms that can be upgraded - Design calculations - Balance criteria - Construction - Safety - Inspection and tests
  • TS EN 1495 + A2 Platforms - Columnar work platforms
  • Steel wire ropes - Safety - Section 12385: Operation and maintenance information
  • TS EN 13157 + A1 Cranes - Safety - Manually operated lifting gear
  • TS EN 818-6 + A1 Short link chain - For lifting purposes - Safety - Section 6: Chain slings - Technical specification for use and maintenance information to be supplied by the manufacturer

our organization TÜRCERT Technical Control and Certification Inc.conducts regular inspections and inspections of lifting platforms located between the lifting and conveying equipment of the enterprises and reports the detected errors and dangerous situations to the operation.
