Spreaders are the tools used in all workplaces where the containers are lifted, especially in ports and which make the parts of the crane and provide the connection between the crane and the container. It has heights up to three meters, lengths from five to six meters and widths up to one meter. The four holding parts on the legs are connected to the slots on the container and lifting is performed in this way. After the container is released, the retainer parts of the spreader are opened and the spreader is released. Spreaders may be able to lift 20 or 40 ton containers. In general, each brand is manufactured to fit the crane and every brand container.
In principle, lifting machines and vehicles must be checked by their operators before working. In addition, the chains, steel ropes, hooks, pulleys, slings, brakes and automatic stoppers of these machines should be checked and inspected at least once a year by mechanical engineers, high technicians and technicians. This legal obligation is an obligation imposed by the Regulation on Health and Safety Conditions in the Use of Work Equipment, in order to ensure the health of employees and the safety of goods. In addition, organizations that will carry out these controls must be independent, impartial and reliable. The document prepared after the control should be kept in a special file to be opened at the workplace. Spreader vehicles will be checked by their operators before starting each work, and steel rope, chains, hooks, slings, pulleys, brakes and automatic stoppers will be completely checked annually by an authorized technical staff and a control document will be prepared and stored in the special file at the workplace. Lifting Machines will be able to lift and suspend at least 1,25 times of the operating weight effectively and safely, and they will have sufficient load brakes to withstand this load.
In general, if the control criteria and regular control intervals of the lifting machines are not included in the relevant standards, control and inspection works are carried out in accordance with the criteria and durations stipulated by the manufacturer. If the manufacturer does not specify anything, this time the decision is made according to the results of the risk assessment taking into account the factors such as the conditions of the workplace environment, usage period and frequency of use. In any case, however, the regular inspection interval shall not exceed one year, with the exception of the aforementioned regulations.
