Periodic Inspection of Cable Car Systems

If we go back to the history of the ropeway technique, it was first made by the Chinese. During the 250 BC, when the famous Great Wall of China was built, they used a rope technique to pull up the materials used in the construction of the city walls. During the First World War, Austria and Italy fought and a rope-operated system was used for the transportation of some thousand soldiers in the Alps. The first cabin cable car system was established in the US in 1935. Afterwards, three and four cabins, large cabins with a capacity of 20 people, multi-rope systems, two-storey cabin systems and facilities for 180 people were installed.

The ropeway is the general name given to the hanging stone which is connected between two places, which are stretched in the air, on one or several steel ropes. The ropeways work with the lift principle, but they can reach very high points from the ground floor, like a helicopter, especially when crossing the valley.

The cable car is set up between heights that are difficult to access. There are also those available on a sea or strait. The places where the ropeways are set up are areas where transportation by land, rail and sea is very difficult or very expensive. The ropeway established between two specific points in such areas is used for the transmission of people or materials. Ropeways in which people are transported consist of passenger cabins suspended from steel ropes.

Ropeway operators must maintain safety and compliance. They must ensure that the entire ropeway system and infrastructure for new installations is approved in accordance with local regulations and laws. There are also different types of cable car 2. These are as follows:

Chair Lifts; It is a small ropeway type in the form of chairs installed in ski centers and those working between camps and settlements, mostly in the form of cabins.

Teleskies; The ski lifts, which are designed for use in ski centers, lift skiers from the bottom to the top by pulling them with the T-Bar. The ski lifts within the fixed clamp lift group are used for short distances in ski centers.

Ropeway systems are manufactured in different types in accordance with the intended use. For example, in single-ropeway installations, the transmission capacity is limited due to the constant rotation speed of the rope. The moving parts of the system are few and the cabins are permanently attached to the towline. There are also single rope systems which move cabinets in groups. Two and four cabins move together and the passenger capacity is higher. Another ropeway system is the double rope system. At least one meter between the two ropes, the cabins are connected to the ropes by two holders. Both ropes move at equal speed. The passenger capacity of these systems is much higher. For long distances and high floors, this type of telescopic system is preferred. These systems also have high wind stability.

The ski lifts and chairlifts used in ski centers are also simple ropeway systems. These systems work with low or high tow rope in accordance with the terrain structure and are used to carry skiers to the upper point. Despite its simple structure, it has a very high passenger capacity.

Our company prepares reports on the detected deficiencies, non-conformities or dangerous situations by checking that the relevant equipment and auxiliary equipment can safely perform the lifting work, and that the equipment meets the test requirements in the examinations carried out with its expert team and equipment.
