Harmonic Flickering Tests

The power quality problem is that there are variations in voltage, current and frequency that cause electrical or electronic equipment to malfunction or not operate at all. One of the factors that deteriorates power quality is waveform distortion. The cause of the waveform distortion is due to the change in the sinusoidal shape at the fundamental frequency. One of the basic waveform disturbances are harmonics.

Harmonics are technically one of the names given to sine-shaped voltages and currents at the integer multiples of the normal operating frequency of the supply system. These harmonics are formed by non-linear elements connected to the power system. Intermediate harmonics is the name given to voltages and currents that have a frequency distribution which is not technically the full multiples of the operating frequency of the supply system.

The main sources of harmonic generation are: static AC / DC power converters, frequency converters, rectifiers and inverters, DC motors, AC speed controllers, arc furnaces and electrolysis units and uninterruptible power supplies.

The problems caused by harmonics are: heating in devices and cables, mechanical vibrations in machines, failure of the ignition circuits, electronic card failures, power losses and punctures in power capacitors, blows in fuses, breaks in switches and switches, breakage of relay signals and abnormal operation, energy loss and abnormal operation. measurement errors in systems.

Electromagnetic compatibility tests and measurements are performed in all authorized laboratories. Within the scope of EMC tests, our company performs harmonic flicker tests in accordance with the relevant legal regulations, standards and test methods published by domestic and foreign organizations. These standards are based on a few standards:

  • Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) - Part 61000-3: Limit values - Limit values for harmonic current emissions (device input current per phase ≤ 2 A) TS EN 3-2-16
  • TS EN 61000-3-3 Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) - Part 3-3: Limit values - Voltage fluctuations in low-voltage supply systems, voltage fluctuations for devices with rated current up to and including 16 A per phase (included) and not subject to conditional connection and flicker borders
  • Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) - Part 61000-4: Test and measurement techniques - Harmonics and intermediate harmonics including energy network signaling at the AA energy end - Low frequency immunity tests

Our organization has been accredited by Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK) in accordance with TS EN ISO / IEC 17025 standard.
