Tightness Test

IP protection code, which stands for international protection code or ingress protection code (interference protection code, is a coding system that shows the sealing levels of the housings of electrical and electronic devices against solid objects and liquids. This coding system has been developed in the European Union countries and is applied internationally. In order to indicate the safe working conditions of electrical and electronic products, these products are given IP codes.

For pipeline systems, the leak test (or in a more appropriate language, serviceability test, also known as leakage measurement) shall be carried out with the aid of a measuring device every 12 annually and the test results recorded in the report. The operator therefore has a technical expert report. Some building insurers have these inspections and certificates / reports in their insurance coverage. For serviceability testing or sealing testing, gas pipes are always tested under operating conditions / working pressure (not with increased test pressure). During this test, the meter detects whether the gas pipe is leaking and if so, how much.

Sealing or IP protection levels are as follows:

  • Protection against solid objects
    • 0 = Unprotected
    • 1 = Protection against solids with a diameter of 50 mm
    • 2 = Protection against solids with a diameter of 12,5 mm
    • 3 = Protection against solids with a diameter of 2,5 mm
    • 4 = Protection against solids with a diameter of 1 mm
    • 5 = Dust protection
    • 6 = Dustproof
  • Protection against liquids
    • 0 = Unprotected
    • 1 = Protection against vertically running water droplets
    • 2 = Protection against water drops flowing obliquely up to 15 degrees
    • 3 = Protection against water spray
    • 4 = Splash protection
    • 5 = Protection against water flushing
    • 6 = Protection against strong water jets
    • 6k = All-round protection against high-pressure and powerful water spray
    • 7 = Resistance to immersion in water less than 30 minutes
    • 8 = Protection against the effects of continuous immersion in water
    • 9k = Protection against high pressure and high temperature water spray from close range

According to this coding system, an IP58-licensed electrical product is resistant to dust and the effects of continuous immersion in water (the first figure indicates the level of protection against solid objects and the second figure indicates the level of protection against liquids).

Our company carries out its leak test works in accordance with the relevant legal regulations, standards and test methods published by domestic and foreign organizations with a strong staff and technical infrastructure.
