CL2 (Chlorin) Measurements

Chlorine is one of the most common halogens in nature. Chlorine gas with a yellow to green color is heavier than air. When inhaled in large quantities, it affects the respiratory system very badly. It was used as a lethal gas during the First World War. When chlorine is mentioned, it is generally understood as a chemical substance used for disinfection in public cleaning, drinking water and swimming pools and used for bleaching white laundry in laundry. However, chlorine is the name of Cl2 gas. In nature, chlorine gas consists of two chlorine atoms. CL2 is sometimes referred to as chlorine, but is essentially chlorine gas. Chloride is the chlorine substance in the water in the ion state. The most known chloride ion is the dissolved state of the salt.

In case of any chlorine gas leakage: Follow the steps below to avoid leaks.

.If the leak cannot be stopped quickly, call the nearest manufacturer. Personnel authorized, trained and equipped with appropriate equipment should intervene in leakages.

.Evacuate other personnel from the leaked area to a high place by taking the wind behind.

.If the leak is very heavy, remove all personnel from the area.

.To detect chlorine leaks, spray the gas ammonia at 26 ° Baume to the suspected area, if chlorine escapes, white smoke will be produced.

.Check all equipment at least once a day.

.If chlorine equipment or piping is leaking, close the chlorine inlet and transfer the pressurized chlorine to an absorption system.

.If possible, reduce the pressure in the containers by transferring the gas to the process or discharge system. Use a suitable emergency bag. If the manufacturer cannot be reached, call the nearest manufacturer and ask for help.

.Leakage of chlorine containers is illegal. Never use water in case of chlorine leakage, never throw the leaked chlorine cylinder or tonne container into a water or liquid chemical mass.

.An absorption solution containing caustic soda or soda ash should be prepared in a suitable tank and the chemical used in the preparation of the solution should be kept available for emergencies. The leaking cylinder or container must not be placed in the absorption tank.

In case of fire:

Remove chlorine containers quickly from the fire area. If they cannot be moved, inform the personnel about the fire. After making sure there is no chlorine leak, spray water into cold containers. Remove unauthorized persons from the area.

In case of chlorine gas hazard:

.It is very important to respond quickly to anyone affected by the chlorine.Medical assistance should be provided as soon as possible.

.Use appropriate respiratory protection to remove affected person from area immediately and transport immediately to fresh air.

.If breathing has stopped, place the person in a comfortable position and keep warm. In severe cases, the patient's head should be held at an angle of 45 ° to 60 ° with his body. Slow and deep breathing should be provided, oxygen should be given by trained personnel as soon as possible.

.If breathing appears to be stopped, start artificial respiration as soon as possible and use acceptable methods such as mouth-to-mouth ventilation. Have someone call a doctor. If an approved breathing apparatus is available, oxygen may be given by a competent person. Otherwise, find out where and how to find an operator and equipment immediately.

.If liquid chlorine or chlorinated water has come into contact with the skin or clothing, remove the clothing and wash the skin with a large amount of soap and water. Do not apply any ointment or other medication unless prescribed by a doctor.

.If the eyes are affected by a high concentration of chlorine gas or liquid chlorine, the eyelids should be kept open under running water for at least 15 minutes. If an immediate doctor is available, an eye specialist should be called. If the doctor does not arrive at the first 15 minute, wash the eyes for another second 15 minute. It should never attempt to neutralize chlorine with other chemicals. Oily ointments or any other form of medication should not be applied to the eye unless prescribed by a doctor.

When Cl2 chlorine gas is dissolved in water, chlorine ion is formed which disinfects in water. This is called hypochlorite. This ion serves as disinfection. Chlorine in the form of gas (ie Cl2) and chloride ion in the form of ions in water do not disinfect. Otherwise, if chlorine ion had disinfection function, no living creature would have lived in the seas today. This is why chlorine is used for both chlorine gas (Cl2) and non-gas disinfectant. Briefly, the defined chlorine ion (ie hypochlorite), usually chlorine, is a disinfectant.

The amount of chlorine ion added to water for disinfection of water, which has not been found in natural conditions, can be measured. The value obtained in these measurements is called the amount of free chlorine. During the disinfection process, chlorine ion releases oxygen ions. In this case, the amount of free chlorine is reduced. The amount of free chlorine is sometimes referred to as the amount of active chlorine. These measurements are performed in authorized laboratories.

Our company performs chlorine gas (CL2) and free chlorine content measurements within the scope of gas measurements. In these studies, the relevant legal regulations, standards and test methods published by domestic and foreign organizations are complied with.

In the meantime, our company has been accredited by the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK) according to the TS EN ISO / IEC 17025 standard and the test, measurement, analysis, inspection and inspection procedures and reports are accepted as valid in special and official audits.
