Air Pollution Measurement

The increase of urbanization and the growth of industrialization are among the results of modern life, but this phenomenon has created the problem of air pollution, but also with air pollution has started to increase with the urbanization. Air pollution has reached these dimensions today, not only in local and regional terms but also in a global scale. has become. Since air pollution poses a great risk to human health, air quality has become an issue of importance all over the world. Many domestic and foreign organizations have been working to solve air pollution problems and determine strategies in this direction.

Air pollution is the concentration of particulates and other harmful substances in the air, which cause adverse effects on humans and the ecosystem. These particles are intensely present in the air, damaging living things. Particles in the atmosphere in the form of particles or small molecules, gas emissions solid or liquid. Air pollution occurs in natural, motor vehicles, industrial and heating sources. They are poisonous smoke and ashes caused by volcanic eruptions as a natural source. These are unburned fuel, oil and exhaust fumes originating from motor vehicles, which are rapidly increasing in number. Examples of low calorie low-quality coals and fuel oil burning due to heating. Industrially all filter brewing methods. chemical gases and fumes from factory chimneys that do not use.

With the industrial developments, product variety increased and production process was shortened. Established factories continue production without a break. Smoke rising from the chimneys and exhaust gases reduce the quality of the air we breathe day by day and harm people. With the developed devices, this pollution is measured and studies are carried out in places where the pollution is intense.

A classification system called the Air Quality Index is now widely used all over the world. This system classifies air quality as good, medium, bad or dangerous depending on the concentration of pollutants in the air. The methods and criteria used to calculate this index in various countries have been determined in accordance with the countries' own air quality standards. The Air Quality Index uses different definitions and colors in certain categories and is regulated separately for all pollutants measured. In our country, National Air Quality Index has been prepared by adapting to national legal regulations and limit values. This index determines air quality based on five main pollutants: particulate matter (PM10), carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and ozone (O3).

The following table shows the internationally accepted index values and criteria:

Air quality index values

Health concern levels

Renkler

Meaning

0 - 50

Good

Green

Air quality is good, air pollution is risk-free or less risky

51 - 100

Medium

Yellow

Air quality is appropriate, but for sensitive people some pollutants may occur at moderate levels of health concern

101- 150

Sensitive

Orange

Health effects may occur for vulnerable people, but generally not likely to affect

151 - 200

Unhealthy

Red

Anyone can have health problems, can have serious health effects for vulnerable people

201 - 300

Bad

Purple

Health emergency, everyone is likely to be affected

301 - 500

Dangerous

Brown

Health alarm, everyone at more serious health risk

Our company also performs air pollution measurements within the scope of gas measurements. In these studies, the relevant legal regulations, standards and test methods published by domestic and foreign organizations are complied with.

Meanwhile, our organization has been accredited by Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRCERT) in accordance with TS EN ISO / IEC 17025 standard.
